The new year is always a time to reflect, which is sort of what I’ve been doing for the last few months. Reflecting on 2018 and trying to organize 2019. And being super busy and lazy. So that’s what this post is about! Reflection on 2018 and the awesome places I’ve been inside my own country! I put a lot of my travel emphasis on international trips, but the ones that I took inside the US are special to me because of the people I visited. This is a chronicle of the places I went for some quick trips, not including Florida for Christmas, which will have its own post (because we drank around the world at Epcot, and that’s worthy of its own post, guaranteed) with 3 general things that we did and I would recommend you do in each location! Boulder with Sarah In March I took a weekend to go visit Sarah, who I hadn’t seen since graduation! Between my going abroad and her living in Malaysia on her Fulbright, this was the first opportunity we had to cross paths. I was SO THANKFUL to have some time to spend with her. She took me all around Boulder, which I hadn’t had a hence to explore before. Here’s a quick list of a few of the things we did:
Boston with Hannah and Rachel In April I took a trip to visit Hannah on her birthday weekend! We didn’t do much sightseeing, but I had done that with Rachel on my trip to Boston in 2017. My main goal was to hang out with my friends! I know there’s A LOT more to do in Boston than the three things on my list, and I’m not saying they’re the only things to do, but here’s a few things I’d recommend from what I’ve done in both my trips:
Nashville with the Fam I finally made it to Nashville! My dad’s side of the family has been living there for a few years now and I was the last one in my immediate family to visit. It was too short, as all family visits are, but it was great to just be surrounded by family and love. Here’s a few things that we did as a family that were real fun:
And this post didn’t even include my time in Madison with Ingrid, Vegas with Alex and friends, Green Bay for a wedding, and a trip to Florida to surprise my mom for her 60th birthday! I’m truly thankful for the amount of travel that I get to do, and especially the people that I get to see because of it. Maybe Boulder or Nashville aren’t as “exciting” destinations as Greece or New Zealand, but they certainly stay with me for just as long. Because while traveling certainly enhances life, it’s relationships with people that make it even more worthwhile.
