So I finally made it to the South Island of NZ!! The whole week was jampacked and so much fun! It was absolutely beautiful and the geology everywhere was amazing (but I’ll get to that later). The weather looked like it was going to be dodgy, but it ended up being perfect the whole week, which was definitely some good luck. Anyways, here are all the details about the week!
It started very early on a Monday. Dan had driven down to Wellington that weekend to watch the rugby super 8 semi-final on Saturday, but I had to work so I flew in to meet him extremely early on Monday. Jess drove me to the airport for my 5:25am flight (thanks Jess!) and it went off without a hitch. Except for the man that snored SO LOUDLY right across from me for the ENTIRE trip. It got so bad that the man sitting behind me actually hit him with his magazine to wake him up. Dan picked me up from the airport and we headed straight to the ferry terminal to catch the 8:00am ferry to the South Island!

It’s been over a month since my last post, which is far too long. I’ve had a lot of life planning and other stuff going on, but I’ll update you all on that later when I’ve got some finalized plans. For now, I’ll let you know about the last few weeks...back in New Zealand!
My trip back ended up being pretty last minute. I was in San Diego to celebrate the Fourth of July but what ended up happening is me leaving to go back to Auckland on the 3rd. That meant that I skipped July 4th because when I landed in New Zealand it was the 5th. Which was a little sad. But that’s okay. It’s been all go go go since then, but now I’m sick watching Grey’s Anatomy all day so I have time to write! I got a job working for little bird organics in Auckland, so I’ve been doing that on weekends and fitting adventures in during the week. We’ll move on to those, they’re way more fun to talk about! A lot has happened in the last few weeks, especially being back in Orlando two weekends ago. My heart is filled with sadness for the city in which I have so many memories and friends. I’m not really sure how to express myself in written words regarding this awful event, but if you’re reading this and want to talk about it with me, I am always available to do so. I’ll just say that it’s not easy and I am constantly thinking about the many people this directly affected, as well as what it means to the country as a whole. It was hard to prioritize this blog during that time, but I’ve finally been able to finish up this post about Vancouver, which was an incredible trip! The past week has been pretty crazy. From visiting COSTCO, to going to the Red Dragon, to driving halfway across the country, it really can’t get much nuttier. I’m actually not kidding, COSTCO was so overwhelming. But that’s not the point of me typing right now. This post is about the three day road trip I took with my friend from college, Auburn. He is now attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne for graduate school and he needed to drive his car there from LA. Naturally I jumped at the chance to have a mini adventure and to visit a bunch of the national parks that I’ve never been to before!
Well, here I am! Writing from the good ole’ USofA. Also I apologize for my lack of pictures on this post. I promise I’ll be better about including them in the future.
It’s good to be back. A little odd and definitely really really good. I have a pretty jam packed couple of months here, which I’m definitely looking forward to but it’s going to be busy. I’ve been back for two weeks and it’s already been extremely busy! But I’ll get to that in a bit. First, my departure from New Zealand! |
